Growing with Speed Medical: Celebrating Sam Roby’s 10-Year Milestone
Today, we’re delighted to be celebrating a very special milestone at Speed Medical. We’re pleased to welcome Sam Roby as we recognize and congratulate on reaching 10 years of service with the business.
This is a fantastic achievement and a reflection of their dedication, commitment, and the positive impact they’ve made over the years. We’re going to ask a few questions to look back on their journey with Speed Medical, hear about their experiences, and reflect on what this milestone means to them.
- Firstly congratulations! Can you tell me a bit about yourself and what was your role when you joined speed? How has your role evolved since then?
I started at Speed on 29th February 2016 (a leap year no less!) back when I was 23 and had little admin experience. When I started my hobbies consisted of a love of horses and reading. Both of which have stayed with me throughout my time at Speed. When I started I was an operations administrator on the Slater and Gordon team, over the next ten years I’ve been on a reports processing team briefly then the Complex team where after a period I was the Senior Admin, then in 2021 I applied for my current role of Team Leader on the General Reporting team which I have been ever since.
- How have you seen the business evolve over the years, and what do you think makes Speed Medical unique today?
Over the years Speed has evolved from being primarily a medical reporting agency to covering a broader field, involving more services.
What I believe helps to make Speed unique today is its ability to sit at the centre of several sectors such as healthcare yet still maintain its patient-first approach.
- What has kept you motivated to stay with Speed Medical for 10 years?
What has kept me motivated to stay with Speed Medical is a combination of the people and the opportunities I have had to grow in this time.
It’s helped me personally being able to work with some really supportive colleagues and managers.
- What does working at Speed Medical mean to you personally?
On a personal level working at Speed Medical has allowed me to grow professionally. Over the years I’ve developed new skills, gained experience and adapted to the roles I’ve been in.
- Is there a team, colleague, or leader who has had a particularly positive impact on your journey here?
There has been a number of people who have had such an impact on my journey here. I’ve been fortunate to work with colleagues and leaders who have been very supportive and encouraging.
Since I have been a Senior Admin and later Team Leader I’ve been lucky enough to have approachable and supportive colleagues and managers who have encouraged me to go for my next role and provided the support and guidance once I was in that role.
- What’s one moment or achievement during your time at Speed Medical that you’ll always remember?
I’m proud of the fact that over the last 10 years I have been building my experience and knowledge. I’ve adapted to new systems, processes and my role whilst continuing to support those around me where I can.
- What advice would you give to someone just starting their career at Speed Medical today?
The advice that I would give to someone just stating at Speed Medical is to take the time to learn the processes, there’s a lot to learn about each role but your knowledge can become very valuable.
And I’d highlight the importance of asking questions and learning from those around them to help develop their knowledge and confidence.
- Finally, what are you most looking forward to in the next chapter of your journey with Speed Medical?
What I’m most looking forward to is continuing to grow and take on new challenges. I want to build on the experience I’ve gained so far and use it to contribute even more. I want to continue developing my own skills and potentially take on more responsibilities in the future.
