Expert Panel Speed Round - Meet Dr Ibrahim, General Practitioner

Today, we’re getting to know Dr Ibrahim a little better, finding out about a typical day on our expert panel, the challenges he faces and how being part of the Speed Medical team has benefitted him.

 

Why did you choose a career in medicine?

I chose a career in medicine as I love the idea of combining science with helping people and I have always believed medicine is the perfect combination!

General Practice gives me the opportunity to manage a diverse cohort of patients and their families, managing them holistically and delivering high quality patient satisfaction and care. 

 

What is your role on the Speed Medical Expert Panel?

My role on the Speed Medical Expert Panel is to consult with, and to examine patients who have been injured.

 

What is a typical day on the Expert Panel like for you?

A typical day on the Expert Panel for me is to examine a mixture of patients both face to face and also via video consultation.

 

What made you decide to move into an expert witness role?

I moved into an expert witness role because I enjoy the challenge of diagnosing musculoskeletal injuries and providing treatment and a prognosis on these injuries.

 

What do you enjoy most about working on the Expert Panel?

I enjoy consulting and examining a large variety of patient’s, listening to their stories and helping them get the correct treatment.

 

How has working on the Speed Medical Expert Panel benefitted you and your career?

I feel working on the Speed Medical Expert Panel has benefitted me as I work with colleagues who provide high quality support, in providing appointments, dealing with any queries and providing an overall excellent service.

 

Where have you worked previously?

I am a GP and I have also worked in A+E, Rheumatology and Orthopaedics. Whilst working in these fields, I saw patients with a wide range of musculoskeletal injuries and was able to assess and appropriately manage a variety of conditions with different prognoses. I was able to manage acute injuries to more chronic complex problems.

 

What is the most rewarding aspect of your job and why?

I find it rewarding diagnosing musculoskeletal injuries and also discussing prognoses and recommending a variety of treatments in patients who have been injured.
