We’re Looking for Expert Witnesses to Join our Panel

When it comes to cases of personal injury or medical negligence, it is rarely a straightforward road to claimants getting the support and compensation they deserve. Sustaining an injury or being involved in an accident is an extremely traumatic time and having the best team possible to ensure the right outcome is key. An expert witness report can be integral to how a case proceeds, often helping avoid a case going to trial altogether.

At Speed Medical we’re looking for new expert witnesses to join our panel, and we need people who are passionate and prepared to take on complex cases. As an expert witness for Speed Medical Experts, you’ll work on a variety of case types and receive competitive rates of pay. You’ll get continued support from the CAB board and from our designated team, and you’ll be able to take the number of cases that suits your schedule.

Below are some of case types our experts have worked on over the past few years.

Grenfell Tower

On 14th June 2017, a fire broke out in Grenfell Tower, a 24-storey block of flats in North Kensington, London. The fire, which started in a flat on the fourth floor, took hold of the building within minutes, eventually engulfing it completely and resulting in the death of 72 people.

The tragedy at Grenfell is considered one of the UK’s worst modern disasters and was the “largest single rescue operation in England since World War II” according to the London Fire Brigade.  With so many affected, it’s no surprise that the aftermath of the fire meant hundreds of people seeking compensation and support for all that had been lost.

Many cases required the use of expert witnesses to provide an accurate report to help the claimant with the next phase of their legal journey.   Speed Medical is proud to have been involved, providing expert witnesses to ensure claimants had necessary documentation from an experienced expert witness to proceed with legal action.

Hernia Mesh Repair

Almost 1 in 10 people will get a hernia during their life, and although symptoms vary from person to person, the outcome is usually the same - at some point, a hernia will probably require a surgery. Between 90,000 and 100,000 people in the UK have mesh repair surgery to fix a hernia per year.

Mesh repair on hernias has been used globally for around 25 years and is the preferred method for fixing a hernia due to repairs with stitches having a higher failure rate. However, the BBC says that up to 170,000 people who had the surgery so far could have had complications including some patients being left unable to walk, or feeling suicidal due to the detrimental impact the surgery has had on their life.
